My aunt, Mayme Rachuig Hause, sent me these pictures. I'd never seen them before. I'm guessing at the date. They show the Schulz family. I can identify the boys in the back row: Hugo, Bernhardt (Uncle Ben) & Bruno. I have a harder time with the girls. Maybe someone can help me: Selma in the back row with her brothers, Martha Alinda next to her mother in front, & Anna Kamilla by her father. The second picture shows the two younger brothers, Hugo on the left & Bruno on the right.(Update) I got this info from my aunt, Mayme Rachuig Hause. "Chuck, the daughter on the front row right is Martha Alinda and the one above her is Anna Camilla and on the far right is Selma Martha. The boys are left to right Hugo, Victor, Bernhardt Franz [Ben] and Bruno Georg. A boy andf a girl [Albert and Ella] died before they came to America."
Here is an obituary my aunt sent me. I remember Bruno, who attended Schulz family reunions well into his later years. I tried to find a picture of him in my archive, but I wasn't successful. If anyone has a photo, I'll add it to this blog.
Notice that Bruno is a descendant of the Tobias & Wilhelmina Schulz family, but he married into the August & Henrietta Rachuig family. This is another instance of close relations between two families in the Clifton community.

Many of you may have seen this history of the Schulz family. I thought I would post it again for anyone who doesn't have a copy.

My aunt, Mayme Rachuig Hause, sent me this interesting article on the Unger surname. Wilhelmina Unger married Tobias Schulz in 1873. They are the matriarch & patriarch of the Schulz family of Clifton, Texas. They emigrated to Texas from Crottendorf, Upper Saxony, Germany in the 1883.
I've posted several photographs of their hometown in Germany - Crottendorf in the Erzgebirge of Upper Saxony.

Here's another photo from a Schulz reunion at the Tobias & Wilhelmina homestead at Cranfils Gap. The date is July, 1964.
H. V. was the oldest attendee at the 2010 family reunion last July. He's wearing his authentic German hat. A relative bought it for him on a recent trip to Germany, and you can tell H. V. is very proud of it. Looks good!
Here's a picture of Helon Ruth as a toddler. I'll be tactful and say this picture must have been taken in the late 1930s.
This picture comes from the Krueger family photo collection. The only person I can identify is Will Krueger, Sr. You see him at the center of the table. I can't identify any of the other men.
This is a stag affair, but they are dressed in suits & ties. Maybe it's a men's fellowship outing or a fraternal organization function. The date must be sometime in the 1920s.
We have other pictures from this picnic. An annotation on the back of this one says, '5 - 1 - 21.' I can identify Hilda Rachuig Krueger on the left side of the table. I think that's her brother Walter Rachuig, Sr. on the far end of the right side. I'm sure that's Evelyn Rachuig Belcher standing in the background on the right (in the black hat). I can't identify any of the others. Any ideas?
We found this photo among the Krueger family photos. The man appears to be dressed in an army uniform (WWI vintage). The date and location are unknown. Any idea on who this is? Location or date?
This is another photo of an unknown subject. I can't really identify the house, so I can't determine which part of our extended family lived there. All I can say is they were connected to the Krueger-Rachuigs in some way. Note the snow/ice.
(Update) Mayme Rachuig Hause (my aunt) has told me this is the Krueger home on the east side of the Bosque River. This is the home they lived in before moving to the home I always knew on the west side of town.
Here's a photo of an unidentified group of family, in-laws or friends of the Krueger-Rachuig family. No idea on the date or location. Any help is appreciated. (They may be tossing horse shoes.)
I have good reason to think this photo was taken sometime in 1934, probably just before Selma was to travel to a tuberculosis sanitarium in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. This photo was probably taken as her family gathered to say good-bye. Notice how sickly she looks. She died in January, 1935 of tuberculosis.
The location is her home on Hackberry Street in Clifton. The two little girls are my mother, Sally Rachuig Kelly (left) & Mayme Rachuig Hause (right). The standing adults from left-to-right are Evelyn Rachuig Belcher, Herbert Rachuig (my grandfather), Mamie Adams Rachuig (my grandmother), Julius Herman Rachuig (my great-grandfather), Hildegard Rachuig Krueger, Tobias Schulz, Alvina Beyerstedt Rachuig, Walter Rachuig (Sr.), Wilhelmina Schulz (in front of Walter) and Edgar Rachuig. Selma is the seated woman.
This photo shows Wilhelmina Schulz, her daughter Selma Schulz Rachuig, her granddaughter Hilda Rachuig Krueger and great-granddaughter Dorothy Krueger Mansur. I'm not certain of the exact date, but it must be around 1923. The location may be the Schulz home north of Clifton. I don't have any good guesses on the identity of the boy in the background.
I'm not sure who these people are, or where the picture was taken although the stamp on the back says it was taken around August 12, 1924. These people are family, in-laws, or friends of the Krueger-Rachuig family. I appreciate any help with identifying them.
This photo shows Flora Viertel Meissner sometime before 1920. (She was born in 1905.) I'm not sure of the location, but it may be her grandparents' farm near Cranfils Gap. (Her grandparents were Tobias & Wilhelmina Schulz.)
This photo shows the extended Schulz family celebrating Tobias & Wilhelmina's 50th wedding anniversary on June 8, 1923. The location for this photo is the home of Julius & Selma Rachuig. It still stands on Hackberry Street in Clifton. Selma was the couple's oldest daughter. I have a newspaper account of the celebration which I'll post later.
Herbert Schulz, oldest attendee at the recent family reunion, is one of the little guys in the front. I'll bet he's the one next to his grandfather's left knee.
